Máté showed a talent for music from an early age. He was barely four years old when he climbed onto the piano stool and figured out how to play the main theme from The Phantom of the Opera on his father's synthesizer. After a few years of piano lessons that would eventually prove useful but bored him at the time, he finally got to learn his favorite instrument: the guitar. While his piano teacher was teaching him Bach and Beethoven pieces at the age of seven or eight, his bedroom at home was filled with the sounds of Tankcsapda, Ákos, and Green Day. In his first year of high school, he joined Debreceni Rocksuli, where he had the opportunity to perform songs such as Crazy Train and Master of Puppets live at Roncsbár in Debrecen.
However, his real guitar education took place at home, entirely on his own. As a teenager, he discovered a video game called Rocksmith, which taught him how to play guitar in an interactive way. Because he enjoyed the game so much, he would spend hours every day blasting his favorite Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Iron Maiden songs, much to the dismay of his neighbors. Without a guitar teacher, he developed a confident command of the instrument entirely through independent practice and play.
At the age of 16, he had his first opportunity to perform with the band Android, playing on three Black Sabbath songs at Hall in Debrecen. Since then, he has joined the band on several occasions, expanding both his own and the band's repertoire with songs by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple.
During his university studies in Budapest, he had a few opportunities to perform with Android. However, in the summer of 2026, he moved back to Debrecen, and following the death of István Létmányi, he became a full-fledged member of the band. His debut performance as an official member took place on September 6, 2026, at Klinika Klub in Debrecen, where the band performed its latest album, Wordless Scriptum, during a three-hour concert.
In his free time, Máté loves working out, meditating, and reading. Alongside his musical career, he is also building his own business. His three favorite bands are Dream Theater, Metallica, and Opeth.
ANDROID is a progressive rock (neo-prog) band. Currently we are performing live as a quintett, often with guest musicians, playing songs from our four CDs we have published so far. The band was originally established in 1980, but after a longer break, we are continuously playing since 2008. Our music combines elements of progressive and classic rock, folk music and even classical music.
